Mayawati Urges Yogi Adityanath Government for BSP Office Relocation, Citing Safety Concerns

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief, Mayawati, called upon the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government on Monday to relocate the party’s state office to a more secure location, emphasizing safety concerns and the potential for untoward incidents.

In a statement shared on social media, Mayawati expressed her concerns about the security of the current BSP state office in Lucknow, particularly due to the construction of a “high bridge” nearby. She asserted that the bridge could pose a security threat, enabling conspiratorial elements to harm the party, its employees, and herself.

Mayawati urged the UP government to consider an alternative safe place for the BSP office to prevent any untoward incidents. Additionally, she emphasized the need for the government to address anti-Dalit elements firmly.

“The BSP makes a special request to the UP government to make arrangements at a safe place somewhere else instead of the current party state office; otherwise, any untoward incident can happen here at any time. Besides, the party also demands that the government should deal strictly with anti-Dalit elements,” she stated in the post.

The BSP chief highlighted the security implications of the construction near the BSP office, stating that the high bridge could be exploited by conspiratorial elements, prompting the party to relocate statues of prominent figures to her residence.

Mayawati revealed that due to security concerns, most party meetings now take place at her residence. For larger meetings held at the office, additional security deployment is required, especially around the bridge.

In her statement, Mayawati took the opportunity to criticize the Samajwadi Party (SP), recalling the guest house incident of 1995 when SP workers attacked her at a guest house in Lucknow. She accused the SP of harboring a deep-seated anti-Dalit bias and claimed that their true colors as an “anti-Dalit party” resurfaced after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Mayawati further accused the SP of taking anti-Dalit decisions during their government and criticized their stance after the 2019 general polls when the BSP and SP, former allies, went separate ways.

The BSP leader underscored her commitment to the welfare of Dalits and accused the SP of returning to its anti-Dalit and casteist agenda post the 2019 elections. She urged the SP to introspect before making unrestrained comments about the BSP.

Mayawati’s statement comes amid political tensions between the BSP and SP, and her call for office relocation is rooted in concerns about the safety and security of party members and infrastructure. The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh continues to witness dynamic developments as key players navigate complex alliances and confrontations.
